Grad Students

James Staley

PhD Student
Computer Science
Website

James's research is about determining a person’s focus in a multi-agent environment, and doing this more easily through coordinated agent behavior. He is also interested in hierarchical, model-free reinforcement learning and option discovery.

Isaac Sheidlower

PhD Student
Computer Science
Website

Isaac's current research concerns Interactive Reinforcement Learning with binary feedback in complicated, continuous state and action space environments. He is also interested in how a learning agent can exploit multiple human teachers each of whom may have their own preferences for how to complete a certain task.

Jindan Huang

PhD Student
Computer Science
Website

Jindan's current research is to evaluate the robustness of existing human modeling approaches with users' insights. She is also interested in designing user-friendly interactive behaviors for agents in education and healthcare settings.

Hang Yu

PhD Student
Computer Science
Website

Hang's current research is to effectively utilize human feedback to improve the efficiency of Interactive Reinforcement Learning by using both local and global feedback and minimizing dynamics in human feedback. He is also interested in heuristic algorithms, collaborative learning, and deep learning.

Kat Allen

PhD Student
Mechanical Engineering/HRI
Website

Kat’s research interests include multi-party human-robot interactions for complex physical tasks, human-robot cooperation and teaming, adaptive robotics, and robotics for space systems.

Hayley Owens

PhD Student
Computer Science/CogSci
Website

Hayley's research deals with robot behavior which adapts to a user's personalized needs. Ranging from an individual's preference in robot interaction styles to personalized assistance in unstructured tasks, Hayley is interested in helping the user in a way the user truly wants.
